Headmaster's Message

Dear Parents and Friends of the School

Spring Term 2024 will be one that lives in all of our memories for a long time, I am certain. We have been dealt a dreadful blow with the passing of a much-loved schoolmate and companion in Barnaby Williams. At such a desperate moment, it has been heartwarming to see so many children, parents and staff come together to celebrate his young life and also to share our feelings of intense sadness, sympathy and admiration with his amazing family.

The school calendar will be coming around to you in a hard copy form during the holiday and you will have received an electronic version already today. As always, there are many highlights to look forward to in the last term of the year, but I would especially draw your attention towards the Concert for Barnaby that we have planned on June 7 and the football tournament the following day. Along with all of the sports days, residential trips, fete, concerts, theatre trips and performances, it promises to be a great term.

The current one has finished with a flourish this week as well. The Spring Concert was followed by the spectacular Year 2 performance to parents, and today we have celebrated an Easter Service with a difference, together with many visiting parents at all of these events. We have also bid a fond farewell to two long serving members of staff who have both, in their own way, played an important part in recent Crescent history. You can read a little more about the contributions that both Lesley Shallcross and Helen Morley have made to the school elsewhere in the Courier, and they depart with the warm best wishes of everyone here.

I hope you feel well set for the Easter break and that any plans that you have for the holiday work out well. This is always one of my favourite breaks of the school year when there isn't too much on the agenda but just a bit of time to decompress and live in a different way, at least for a short time. I am hoping to get up to the west coast of Scotland for a short break and a bit of mountain time, but mostly some gardening, cycling and amateur DIY are on the short to-do list.

Lastly, many thanks to everybody for all of your continued support for the school during this most difficult term. Your messages of support have meant a lot to us all; we appreciate it.

Have a great break everyone.
