Taster Experience Gives Year 5 An Insight Into Life At Princethorpe

Last Saturday 22 May, Year 5 had the opportunity to take part in a Taster Experience at Princethorpe College. Our youngsters enjoyed a special fun-filled session designed to give them a real insight into life at secondary school.

As well as experiencing exciting sample lessons the children got to explore the school campus and start to feel at home at the school. There was plenty of impressive and creative work and of course, at break time everyone was treated to a legendary Princethorpe cookie. Parents joined the children at the end of the session for a school tour.

The Year 5 Taster Experience was a great way for the children to get a feel for Princethorpe as they start to think about where they will go to secondary school.

There will be further opportunities for pupils and parents to visit the Foundation's secondary school in September and parents are reminded that the registration deadline for entry into Year 7 in 2022 is Friday 1 October. Co-Curricular Survey Results

Thank you to everyone who completed the questionnaire concerning co-curricular clubs, it was extremely helpful as I start planning for the future of co-curricular at Crescent School.

It was interesting to see that most of you prefer clubs to be after school. There will be more on offer at this time next term as we will have more accessibility to rooms in school with the hall not being used for after school and the Horton Centre being in use.

We are intending to give more time to co-curricular activities as we emerge from the pandemic restrictions. These sessions will run before school, after school and at lunchtimes. The after school sessions will be either 45 minutes or 1 hour long.

I will be inviting external club providers in, many of whom will have a cost payable to them. These sessions will run for 10 or 12 full week blocks, starting from next term. This will then open up opportunities for many of the activities you requested and know your children enjoy.

It has been an interesting year with co-curricular, but I am so pleased we could provide something during these times, I am sure you understand that all our plans are subject to government restrictions at the given time.

Faris' Musical Assembly Performance

Our musical treat today in assembly today was provided by Faris in Year 5. Faris played what was a very tricky Grade 5 piece entitled Mr Trombone Man with a combination of gusto and sensitivity.

What talented children we have at Crescent!
