Everything Is Awesome At Princethorpe’s Choral Fun Day

Some of Crescent's pupils were among 80 young singers from local primary schools that enjoyed a super day of singing when they attended Princethorpe's Choral Fun Day.

The Year 5 and 6 pupils tackled a variety of choral pieces from popular favourites such as Katie Perry’s Roar, classics such as Abba’s I Have A Dream and The Beatles’ Nowhere Man, traditional works such as Joshua Fought The Battle Of Jericho and The Sally Gardens, to the wonderfully corny hit Everything Is Awesome from the LEGO movie.

As well as rehearsing furiously, the visiting children took part in a musical team scavenger hunt and enjoyed lunch in the Refectory.

The day culminated in an impressive gala performance of their newly learnt pieces in front of an enthusiastic capacity audience of family and friends in the College's newly refurbished Clarkson theatre, followed by afternoon tea for all.

Commenting on the day, Princethorpe's Director of Music, Gil Cowlishaw said, "We were really impressed by the children. They achieved such a lot in just a few hours, learning six songs and then taking to the stage to perform is no mean feat, well done to them all!”

Online Safety Tips

Paul Hay's excellent presentation last week has given children, staff and parents plenty of food for thought regarding all of our online habits and usage.  There are plenty of high quality articles out there which promote family agreement and healthy conversation about how we all balance this part of our lives ongoing.

I will provide links to different aspects every few weeks via The Courier which I hope you will all find useful.

School Uniform Update - Reminder

New School Tracksuit
We have seen plenty of sales of the new school tracksuit over the last few weeks. The outfit has a modern design and is made from high quality materials and it has gone down very well with those parents who have already bought theirs.

With this in mind, we will be making the new tracksuit an essential piece of school uniform for all pupils from Year 3 to Year 6 from the beginning of the next academic year, 2019-2020. All pupils represent the school on a regular basis and having the same tracksuit will help to build a sense of belonging to the team. They will also get plenty of use on games afternoons and at sports events.

School bags
On a similar theme, we have now had the new school bags in use for just over two terms. These are smart and robust and give a really good impression of the school. Bearing in mind that children in Year 6 may not want to buy the new bag for a short period of time, we are saying that all children will need to have the Crescent School bag from the beginning of next academic year 2019-20

Uniform order forms are available from the school office or contacting Mrs Browne (Foundation Shop Manager):
