U11 And U10 Rugby v King Henrys

U11/10s 'A'  vs King Henry's U11s 'A'
The 'A' team began their rugby season fantastically showing enormous promise with a crunching close-fought match against a very experienced and well-drilled Henry's side. Although only our 2nd week of contact rugby since changing sport Crescent immediately took the lead through the first of an incredible eight tries for the nearly unstoppable Timi. The away side continued to defend and attack as one, using the skills picked up well from the tag version of the game to go in 6-4 in front at halftime. Henry's fought back very strongly in the second half, and despite a well organised defence, some mammoth tackling from Albert, Sam and both Alexs, and some mazy running from Zac and Ed, Henry's were able to find an equalising try in the dying second, the final score a 12-12 draw!

Joint players of the match were Timi for his powerful running and Albert for his superb tackling.

U11s/10s 'B' vs King Henry's U1's 'B'
The 'B's game was a very similar story, with the Crescent side, most of whom were playing in their very first proper contact game of rugby, giving their all fearlessly against a much more experienced home side. The game was very much an end-to-end affair, neither side being ahead by more than one try for the entirety. Unfortunately for Crescent once again Henry's were able to grab a late try in the final play of the game, leaving the final score 8-7 to Henry's.

Joint players of the match were Sam Y for his incredibly running and four-try haul, and Max T for his ferocious tackling throughout.

U9 Hockey v King Henry VIII

We enjoyed two successful U9 fixtures against KHVIII on Tuesday afternoon, with 16 children from Year 3 and 4 representing the school. The teams were evenly matched and play was end to end (which helped keep us all warm in the cold).

In the Year 4 team there was great drive from our midfielders Isabella, Amber and Evelyn, excellent tackling and clearing from the defenders Seren, Esme and Lilah and dynamic attacks from forwards Aria and Ava. It was lovely to see the progression the children made throughout the match as they tried to pass the ball wide and managed to link more passes together. Their determination in the circle was rewarded by 5 goals, with 1 goal conceded.

Player of the Match was awarded to Amber.

In the mixed Year 3 and 4 Team Crescent dominated the attack with some wonderful strong passing from Gloria, Ella and Charlotte to distribute the ball up front to Kiki, Penelope and Kiran. Nimeeta and Everly pushed up when defending to give lots of options and movement. Resulting in a 1-0 with 2 other goals disallowed as the ball was not touched in the D.

Player of the Match was awarded to Gloria.
