Headmaster's Message
Dear Parents
On behalf of everyone here at Crescent School I wish you all a very Happy New Year. I have enjoyed some great family walks and meals during the break and to date have managed to keep to my vow to go for a short run every day. It is so hard finding time for these things during the term in the winter months. The other day I even slept through until 8.30am and immediately felt guilty for sleeping in. That’s a sign it is probably time to go back to work.
Whilst the end of last term was as exciting and busy as usual I hope that you have been able to spend some time at home with your families to recharge the batteries and get yourselves ready for the new term. The New Year is traditionally a good time to reset your sights and set new targets for the year to come. That will be one of the things the children will be thinking about in their first form period on Monday morning. We will ask them to think about their reports and their teachers’ comments as they set their own targets for the terms ahead.
We are delighted this term to welcome a new member of staff onto the team. Soriya Ashton will begin as part time teaching assistant working in the Pre-Prep, mostly supporting the learning in Year 2. Soriya has been working voluntarily at the school for some time and is already well known and liked by the children. We greatly value the impact that teaching assistants have on the pupils’ learning at Crescent and wish Soriya all the best in her new role.
I look forward to seeing all of the children back in school on Monday morning and hope that I will be able to catch up with many of you personally over the first few days of term.
With best wishes
Joe Thackway
