Headmaster's Message

Dear Parents

I hope you have all enjoyed productive weeks at work and at home. That has very much been the case here at school, with plenty of hard work and focus as the children navigate their way through the long term, always seeking to improve and develop and take pride in their progress. I have struggled personally with a rotten cough (not COVID, but not nice), but I am thankfully, I think, on the road to recovery.

Many thanks to all those parents who have written in expressing congratulations following our ISI report. I don’t intend to keep referring back to this constantly, it can never be a reason for complacency, but it is lovely to get such supportive messages. We are already hard at work planning for the terms and years ahead, just as you would expect us to do. The co-curricular clubs list will be with you very soon and work on next term’s calendar is already well advanced. At the same time, plenty of hard work is going into writing reports and assessments for the children, which will be available to R-Y5 parents before the end of this term.

The eco-theme of recent assemblies continued on Tuesday, when the Green Club told us all about their carbon footprints and gave us lots of good ideas on how to save energy in the home and in school. Many thanks to Mrs Johnson for organising this informative assembly and it’s all part of a learning process for us and the children.

I asked the children this morning if they had remembered to turn electrical items off during the week and a sea of hands went up immediately. We did warn them not to turn off switches without asking, of course, we don't want your fridge at home to die suddenly or important Zoom meetings to be rudely interrupted. I myself made the pledge to make sure my computer is turned off each night when I leave my office, having learnt from the children that this will save enough CO2 to fill a double decker bus from being released into the atmosphere over the period of a year.

Have a great weekend.
