Class 4M's Super Similes!

This week we have been looking at imagery in poetry and the techniques which poets use to bring their words to life. A brilliant way of doing this is by using similes, and everyone in the class created one of their own to contribute to a class simile poem.

There were some fabulous examples, and they now have pride of place on our classroom wall.

Well done, 4M!

Class 4W Art

Year 4 have created the most amazing journey pictures this term. They have imaginatively depicted their route from home to school using paint and mixed media. This week, they have been evaluating each other’s work by celebrating successes and suggesting how they could develop their paintings.

Class 5F Paint Still Life

Over the past few weeks, Year 5 have been painting their still life pictures. They have worked hard to develop their colour mixing skills and have used tone and contrast to create depth to their pictures.

Class 5F Collaborative Planning In English

In English we are studying recount writing, based on books about UFOs.  As part of this the children worked in small groups to plan some writing about a hoax UFO, their creativity and imagination was put to use, whilst thinking about how to make it convincing. I am looking forward to their finished recounts next week.

Green Club Switch Off Fortnight

The Green Club launched the 'Switch off Fortnight' campaign in assembly this Tuesday.

This is a national campaign, with over 1000 schools taking part, to try to reduce the use of electricity to save energy and help to stop climate change.

In the next two weeks they want to encourage the children to save electricity in school and at home.

Green Club are not asking everyone to ‘never turn the lights on’ or ‘to be in the dark all the time’ or ‘to have cold showers’ but they are asking pupils to think how they can personally save electricity.
