Dear Parents and friends of the school

As we come near to the end of the school year, it was great to see so many of you attending yesterday’s welcome evening. Crescent School is a vibrant and friendly learning environment for all of your children and I hope you got a taste of that on your visits yesterday. We will make sure that the PowerPoint presentations for the sessions are sent round to everyone to have a look at home.

As I look back through the week it is very difficult indeed to pick out key highlights. There has been so much going on with welcome evening as I have mentioned but also Reception Sports Day earlier in the week, which followed on from their first swimming taster day on Monday. Year 6 have been busy all week with their community service, learning about the work of the RNLI as well as preparing themselves for first aid action, and finishing off today with a walk around Draycote Water.

Perhaps the key event for the children would have been move-up morning on Wednesday when they all spent some time with their teachers for next year. These sessions went really smoothly and the children were happy and excited to go to their new classes and start looking forward to another year in school. It is a time for some pride in this year’s achievements and anticipation for adventures still to come. Even next year's Reception class came in very calmly and without tears, which always bodes well for the year ahead.

Good luck to the Crescent parents who are playing in a charity fundraiser football match tomorrow against the parents from Crackley Hall. There are details elsewhere in the newsletter for you to either go along and watch or contribute to the fundraising, which I know would be most welcome.

Next week is a shortened week for the children but there is still plenty on the schedule to keep us busy up until the end. I particularly look forward to the Leavers’ Service for the children and parents in Year 6 on Tuesday, where we will have a chance to say our fond farewells to this wonderful year group.

It won't be too long now before we can start looking forward to our summer holidays and some time away from school. In the meantime, I hope you have a restful weekend with your families.
