Headmaster's Message
Dear Parents
A very warm welcome back to the Courier, the Crescent School's weekly newsletter. I hope you have all enjoyed a wonderful summer break with your families and that your children are excited and ready to start back at school on Monday. I would like to extend an especially warm welcome to all of our new parents, both in the Reception class and elsewhere in the School. I look forward to a long and happy association between your family and the school.
It has been a very busy few weeks here at school, with lots of exciting developments to tell you about. We have had a brand new science lab installed, complete with cookers, split level Belfast sinks, gas taps, laptop workstations and an experiment demonstration table.
The changing rooms have been transformed. We now have separate areas for boys and girls, newly furbished and decorated with an orange and purple colour scheme. The lighting and flooring in both rooms has been reinstalled to make them clean, modern looking areas for the children to enjoy. They will provide privacy when changing but have the dual function of being easy to supervise when the sliding doors are drawn back.
We have also had a state-of-the-art fire detection system installed throughout the school, work on which is being finalised as I speak. This has given us both smoke and heat detection capability in every room and corridor in the school as well as a much enhanced decibel level for the alarm.
Staff here have all enjoyed an inspiring and comprehensive set of INSET training and workshops over the last few days covering a range of important areas, including performance management, well-being for children as well as health and safety updates on risk assessments and child protection. All of this plays a very important part in raising the expertise and skill levels of the staff here, enabling them to provide the best possible education and pastoral care for your children.
There will be lots more from me on these and other issues in the weeks to come but in the meantime I wish you a relaxing final weekend of the holiday and look forward to meeting you again on Monday morning with your children all polished up and ready for their new class.
