Pastoral Advice

Dear Parents

We have seen some fabulous examples of kindness and gentle play across the school in these opening weeks of term. Occasionally we will witness a problem between children that we will always endeavour to sort fairly and proportionately.

Within this, please could we encourage parents not to contact other parents with a view to achieving this externally.  Often this can be overly emotive and not reflect the full picture of the incident. With thanks for your ongoing support and understanding of this.

Residentials 2024 For Years 3 To 6

Co-curricular trips and educational visits have always been a major part of life at Crescent School for the pupils in Years 3-6. These experiences enrich their lives, enhance their learning and develop their understanding and appreciation of the world around them. It has been great for us to be able to successfully run the Year 3 residential to Whitemoor Lakes; the Year 4 trip to Rock UK; the Year 5 trip to the Frank Chapman Centre and Year 6 trip to the Slapton Ley Field Centre in Devon.

We would like to update you with the residentials planned for the next academic year, please take a look at the overview here.

Each trip will have a drop in session this term which we recommend you attend.

KS2 Online Platforms Information Session

Thank you to all that joined us for the evening, we hope you found it helpful. For those of you who like to review the information at your leisure you will be able to watch the recording of it.  There was request for some further clarity on various platforms:

Spellzone
Here is a parental guide. Please note we use this mostly as a tool for our own spelling lists and do not require children to do the Spelling ability test, hence it it is switched off.

Accelerated Reading
This is only accessible through the link that was individually sent home with your child. If you require a Home Connect letter, get in touch with your form tutor.  I have linked the parent guide (please note we do not have MyON). I have also linked the certification guide. The children can see the certificates that they have achieved through the Home Connect or Progress tab at school.

Abacus Maths on Active Learn Primary
Children should already have their login details from school, it is the same as Reading Bugs if you have used that previously. Pupils use the 'My Stuff ' tab to access their allocated games, videos and tasks. Teachers can access what games have been played and how successfully. Please see guides below:

Times Table Rockstars
Pupils should have their login details if they are in Years 2 to 6, perhaps not yet in Year 1. This clip was shared at the beginning of term, but if you missed it here it is with the TTRS guide:
