Combatting Online Bullying

Online bullying or ‘cyber-bullying’ is a term that we are all too aware of these days, as well as the incredibly damaging impact that it can have on its victims. Defined as 'ongoing hurtful behaviour towards someone online', cyber-bullying makes its victims feel upset, unliked, marginalised and unsafe, most worryingly, all in their own houses, bedrooms and safe places.

In the digital world, it has numerous forms – such as hurtful comments on a person’s posts or profile; deliberately leaving them out of group chats; sharing embarrassing images or videos of someone; or spreading gossip about them. Although something that it far more likely to affect pupils of a Secondary school age, it is of course something we take extremely seriously at Crescent, working hard with our pupils to ensure they are equipped with the tools to recognise, report and deal with any such incidences.
