Classes 1LS and 1SS have been learning about how scientists use their senses to investigate things. The children used their sight, hearing, touch and smell to answer questions. In the photos, you can see them carefully observing what is happening in a Skittles investigation. They were very excited to see the rainbow colours appear!
Class 1LS have had a busy first week and have begun their Geography theme of ‘Houses and Homes’. This week, we talked about our own homes and the children drew them in their new books.
Year 2 children have enjoyed a fabulous first week in their brand new Horton Centre Classroom - settling quickly, rising to new learning expectations and routines and responding positively to all aspects of our school promise.
Class 4M returned to school on Monday full of excitement as they start their new academic year, and they have certainly got off to a flying start. In English we are learning about Aesop's Fables and thinking about the morals behind them.
Over the next few weeks, the children will be writing their own fables, which they are really looking forward to. In Maths, we have consolidated our understanding of number bonds, and enjoyed a game on the Abacus Learning Platform. There is plenty of reading going on too.
It has been a fantastic and action-packed first week - well done, 4M!
After School has settled into its new home in the Horton Centre and we popped in yesterday afternoon to take a photo of all the fun. It is lovely to have access directly on to the playground and plenty of space for the children to spread out and play.
One of our English curriculum aims is for children to develop a love of reading. Lilah in Year 2 has shown just how much she loves books, reading an impressive 40 books. What better way to spend a staycation summer afternoon.
Grace and Maisie went to Warwick Castle for an outdoor 'live' PE session with Joe Wicks. He pledged to meet everyone who wanted a selfie after the event and as you can see the girls loved meeting him.
Great photo girls.
What a wonderful summer holiday the children had over the eight weeks. It was lovely to see all the adventures and experiences the children had, please scroll through the photos:
