Dear Parents

I hope you are all well and another week of home learning has gone well for you and the children. Since the government announcements on Sunday evening we have been working furiously here to develop our response and make sure we are prepared for all eventualities. I have written to all parents today explaining our intentions. You will be receiving these letters separately by ISAMs and I do hope they make everything as clear as possible.

We often talk to the children about the benefits of resilience and flexibility. With the currently fluid and rapidly changing circumstances, we are certainly being asked to practise what we preach. I know there will always be alternative points of view, which I completely respect, but broadly I do support the government plans and I am keen to get children back in the school and thereby allow at least some parents to return to work. Having said that, it all remains subject to change and we will continue to respond in the best way we can to meet the needs of your children.

I have spent some time this week looking through lesson provision for different year groups using Seesaw. I am so impressed with the sheer range and detail that the lessons provide. I hope your children are now in the rhythm of picking up their messages and lesson plans and I know that teachers really appreciate the positive messages that you give them. I'm also pleased to say that all children have now had the opportunity to take part in Teams lessons, with the older ones becoming increasingly expert in its usage.

We had many high-quality entries into the VE Day competition last weekend, and I hope you will enjoy looking at them in the Gallery in this week’s newsletter as much as I did. Congratulations to the winners but also to the other entrants, who all deserve much praise.

As part of our History Day to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day I set the children a competition to win a copy of 'My Secret War Diary' by Marcia Williams. There were three books to win.

In Monday's assembly Mr Thackway spoke about the School Promise Rule of the Week.  This week’s promise is in the category of Good Learners and focuses on the theme of listening.

This is such a key attribute for learning. A pupil who really listens actively, takes on advice and feedback and takes action on what they have heard, genuinely does demonstrate the learner profile that makes such a difference in the classroom.
