U10s 6-Aside PC Football Tournament

Crescent U10s travelled over to Princethorpe on a very sunny evening to take part in a very fast-paced and highly competitive 6-aside tournament. Despite losing their opening match 3-0 to a very strong, physical Grange Farm side, Crescent rallied superbly with a comprehensive 2-0 victory over Crackley and a dominant 0-0 draw against a resolute Hampton Primary. This meant a second place finish in their group and a third place play-off match against Crick, the runners-up of the other side of the draw. Again Crescent dominated play, Timi coming close to breaking the deadlock on four separate occasions, but just couldn't find the winner. This however meant the excitement of penalties and chance for heroes to be made. Crescent's hero on this occasion was Edward G-H, who pulled off two outstanding saves in goal, allowing Timi and Alex T to slot one home, taking a 2-1 win and an overall third place finish out of the 10 teams. Special mentions for the whole squad for excellent application and attitude, Player of the Tournament going to Ed G-H for his fantastic goalkeeping throughout.

U8A Mixed Cricket Tournament

On Thursday, it was the turn of the Year 3 children to head over to Edgbaston for the Hallfield cricket tournament.

The seven children who took part competed in three games, and it was great to see the enthusiasm that they all brought to the afternoon and the development of their cricketing skills.

In the three matches, they managed one victory against Crackley Hall, and two narrow defeats against Solihull and Warwick. Thomas was named man of the match and the highlight of his day was hitting 5 sixes off one single over to win a match that we were behind in.

U9A Cricket Tournament

The Year 4 team travelled to Hallfield School for their annual Cricket Tournament on Tuesday 16 May.

Their first game was against the host school, Crescent won the toss and went into field first.  Some solid bowling and sharp fielding from all of the team kept Hallfield to 44 runs with Crescent taking one wicket.

Crescent went in to bat, coming up against some exceptional bowlers who took a total of seven wickets increasing their score to 79. Zac, Lewis and Maxi all found the boundary a number of times to take Crescent up to 67. A competitive first game.

Our second match was against Warwick who had some very big hitters, who scored a number of 6s to score a whopping 131, Crescent again did their best to match this hitting a number of 4s to total 84.  Another good strong game.

The final game was against Abberly Hall. Consistent bowling saw Ed and Maxi take a wicket while Abberly scored 64.  Crescent had now got their eye in when batting and where able to reply with 89 runs.

A great learning experience for all, with everybody making fantastic progress and having a fabulous time. Player of the tournament was awarded to Aryaan for his fantastic team spirit.
