Some of the things the children have been learning...
We have started our new topic 'Once Upon a Time' using The Three Little Pigs as our focus text. We have explored different versions of the story and identified similarities in the language used. We have written about the story and created collages of the pig’s houses. We have talked about some of the materials used in homes and why the wolf couldn’t blow down the house made of bricks.
In Maths we have revisited subtraction to solve simple problems. We have been counting back and used number lines. We have practised number doubles and started to explore their corresponding halves.
We have been thinking about the qualities of a good friend and created friendship flowers for display.
Some of the things the children will be learning in the coming weeks...
The next traditional tales we will be using in class are Goldilocks and the Three Bears and The Gingerbread Man. We will be considering alternative characters and endings and decorating gingerbread men.
In Maths we will continue to consolidate number doubles and halves and introduce sharing.
In phonics we are revising phase three sounds;
We have worked on;
igh oa oo ar or ur ow oi

Notices/Information...
We are looking forward to welcoming you into class soon for ‘Show & Tell.’ This is an exciting opportunity for the children to talk about the pictures that tell their learning journey in Reception.
Please empty the children’s reading folders – all they need are their reading books, reading record notebook and flashcard wallet.
