U11s Girls Festival Of Football At Repton Prep

Our championship winning U11s girls team travelled over to the beautifully picturesque Repton Prep on Saturday to take part in a super festival of football. The emphasis was very much on involvement and enjoyment over getting results, and the girls enjoyed some fantastically spirited and friendly encounters, coming away with 1 win, 3 very dominant draws and 1 loss. Player of the Tournament was captain Grace C for her pivotal midfield work and a very special mention for Maggie who played every game with real pace, tenacity and determination.

U11s ISA Midlands Rugby 7s Tournament at Princethorpe College

Crescent 11s 'A'
The Crescent 'A' side arrived at the ISA Midlands Rugby 7s with real purpose and desire, immediately translating this on to the pitch with a great 45-20 bonus point victory over Dixie 'B'. Further bonus point victories followed against Stafford, Mylnhurst, Tettenhall and OVS, before a fantastic 20-20 draw with Twycross clinched the top spot in the group and a well-earned place in the gold medal match! Despite battling bravely and never losing hope, Crescent were narrowly beaten 25-15 by an excellent Dixie side in the final, but were incredibly proud to come away with a silver medal as runners-up, 2nd place against 14 teams. Special mentions must go to the entire squad, but particularly to our joint players of the tournament Charlie and Sam Mc, who were deadly in both attack and defence throughout. Well done Crescent!

Crescent U11s 'B'
Although not able to match the A team in terms of results, the B team certainly matched them for effort, determination, teamwork, playing superbly in their group games. Crescent finished 6th in their group, setting up a three-way play-off for the 9th/10th/11th spot overall. A narrow loss and a very hard-fought draw eventually saw them finish in 10th spot for the day. While special mentions should go to the entire squad, all of whom scored at least one try each, a fantastic achievement in itself, Crescent's player of the tournament was Ollie for his fantastic defence and support working going forwards.

Hockey Round Up

Crescent U9s Boys 'B'  1   -  1  King Henry's U9s Boys 'B'
Crescent U9s 'B's once again played strong, aggressive, high-pressing hockey and were very unlucky to come away with just a draw, having dominated both territory and possession throughout the match. The home side took the lead in the 1st half through captain Aryaan, however Henry's were able to pull one back at the start of the second half. Crescent then desperately searched for a winner, Akaal, Max and Herbie all coming close, but just unable to find the net. Player of the match was Aryaan for excellent midfield play, with special mentions for Edward M for superb defending and Alex W for kindly volunteering to fill in for the opposition team.

U8 Boys Hockey v Bilton Grange and Crackley Hall
Excellent work by midfielders Thomas, Tomisin and Kian whose determination and energy didn’t let up through three back to back games. Alfie was fantastic in defense and at one point stopped a goal attempt that would have lost us the win against Crackley. Theo McBean worked hard in attack. Theo, Albert, Mithun and Harry were flexible players moving between attack and defense and always approaching it with enthusiasm and confidence.
  • 2-1 win against BG U8A
  • 1-0 win against Crackley Hall U8 A
  • 4-0 win against BG U8 B

U11 Boys Hockey v Bilton Grange
U11As  played a wonderful game of hockey it was a joy to watch. Fast paced action with strong passing, well executed tackles and lots of hard work, determination and calm level headed play saw us take the lead, come back quick from an equaliser and maintain pressure and focus. Some brave goal keeping from Alex saw off a number of BG attacks and a mature and collected shuffle from Charlie secured the win.

Great play.

Netball Round Up

U8 A Girls
U8As netball girls had a fabulous win. They got off to a very quick start scoring on their first circle entry and continued to dominate the 1st quarter. Amber and Ava worked hard to make sure that BG struggled to make passes down the court. Ella and Isabella worked brilliantly together to create multiple scoring opportunities. In the second quarter the defence had more work to do and Evelyn, Lilah and Esme battled hard. With the score at 2-1 at half time there was lots to play for. With more confident passing and some lovely movement, the girls added 2 more goals and a final score of 5-2.

U8B Girls
The girls tried hard despite the rain. They kept their heads up and improved with every quarter as their confidence grew. They had much more play and more opportunities to score in the last quarter. Aria was the well deserved player of the match.

U9A Girls
Girls started fantastically linking passes well to score quickly from their first centre pass. The team listened well to feedback and advice and started to space out, drive towards the ball and offer triangles of passes with square, forward and diagonal options, wonderful team work.
  • BG U9 A - 4-4 Draw
  • BG U9 B - 2-0 Win
