Some Of The Lovely Things The Children Have Been Learning This Half Term!

This half term we've been busy learning about 2D shapes.  We have practised recognising and naming them and talked about their features. We used shapes to create Super Shape pictures.

We have been learning all about ‘light and dark’ and finding out about different sources of light. We have used some Funnybones stories to inspire our learning.

We have also been learning about the Christmas story as we prepared for A Miracle in Town, our Nativity.

How You Can Help Your Child At Home

  • Practise writing first and last names in cursive letters.
  • Visit the library. Share lots of stories encouraging the children to read words they recognise and try sounding out words they don’t know.
  • Write thank you letters for Christmas presents.
  • Go on a "number hunt" around the house. See if the children can say the numbers they see.

Reception Class Reminders

Please remember to sign your child’s reading record each evening so we know they have read.

Don’t forget to let us know if someone else is collecting your child at the end of the day.

Please make sure all uniform is named.

Fortnightly Newsletter

From next term, we will be providing parents with a fortnightly 'Reception Roundup'. It will let you know what we have been learning about, where our learning is taking us next, and suggestions for helping at home.

This will be a great way to keep you informed about what we are doing in class and will feature in this Reception Roundup section of the Courier.
