Crescent School Reverse Advent Calendar 2017

We are hoping to be able to take a gift of food to Rugby Food Bank before Christmas, so we are going to do a Reverse Advent Calendar.  Instead of taking something out during Advent we are going to put something in.  This completely fits in with our Crescent philosophy "to give is to receive".

From 1 December we invite you to put an item of food (non perishable) into the basket within the pupils' entrance for Rugby Food Bank.  Please be generous and add to this very worthy cause.

You are not expected to bring something every day but a few times before the end of term would be so appreciated. Listed below are some of the items needed.
  • Breakfast cereals
  • Soup
  • Pasta
  • Rice
  • Pasta sauce
  • Tinned beans
  • Tinned meat
  • Tinned vegetables
  • Tinned fruit
  • Tea and Coffee
  • Long life fruit juice
  • Long life milk
  • Biscuits
  • Snacks
With thanks

Successful Reception Open Evening Generates Plenty Of Interest In The Crescent

On Tuesday 21 November Crescent School held a dedicated Reception Open Evening. It was an opportunity for families to visit the school, listen to a presentation, view children’s work and talk to members of the Reception and Early Years Team.

The evening was very successful and the school was delighted to welcome some 14 families to get a feel for what makes Crescent so special.

Headmaster, Joe Thackway, commented “There has been a lot of interest in the school and a good number of early registrations for Reception 2018 places, in fact it looks like all our Reception places will be snapped up by early in the New Year and we might need to have a waiting group.  This is a real testament to the reputation of the school and recommendations from current parents.”

Parents are reminded that the deadline for Early Bird applications for places in the Reception class next year is Monday 27 November 2017.  Offers to Early Bird applicants will be posted first class on Wednesday 6 December, with an acceptance deadline of Monday 8 January.

For those who missed this week’s Open Evening there is one further opportunity to visit the school before the final deadline for Reception applications closes as the school will be holding an Open Day on Wednesday 17 January from 10.00am to 3.00pm.
