Class 1E Art

We have been creating a large scale piece of art in the style of Artist Piet Mondrian - big, bright and bold. His work is famous for its vertical and horizontal, black lines filled with bright, primary colours – red, blue and yellow. The children learned how use colour, shape and space to create a unique group piece of art.

We then moved onto creating a large class work of art with every child deciding where their pieces should go. We were all very pleased with the result.

Class 1E Geography Mini Field Trip

This week we brought the children’s learning about house styles to life by going on a mini field trip around school identifying different styles of house.

The children found detached, semi-detached, terraced houses and bungalows in the local area and really enjoyed drawing them and noting down the differences and similarities.

Class 2W Measure Right Angles

Class 2W children were thrilled to discover that they had their own portable right angle measurers in Maths this week.  Nothing around us remained untested!

Class 3S Geography

In Geography, Class 3S have been exploring how we can access information to find out something about anywhere in the world without even leaving the classroom. Excellent timing with the arrival of our brand new set of iPads to school allowed the children to read news headlines and then find out the '5 Day Weather Forecast' for Rugby. We found that 'Climate Change' is big news all over the world and it is going to be pretty wet and breezy this week.

Year 6 Historical Fiction

Year 6 have all been studying historical fiction this term, our focus has been World War 1, studying War Game by Michael Foreman and War Horse by Michael Morpurgo to name a few. From this we revised expanded noun phrases, expanded noun clauses and adverbials.

This week has culminated in a piece of open learning where the children were asked to produce a piece of writing about World War 1 in the genre of their choice. The children have met the challenge well and their work will be on show for Open Corridors.
