Headmaster's Message
Dear Parents and Friends of the School
A bit like the old football manager’s cliché, it has been a week of two halves on the weather front, with unceasing torrential rain eventually giving way to welcome clear blue skies for Thursday and Friday. Let's just hope it can continue into the weekend (apologies if I have just put the kybosh on it by saying that).
Today we have enjoyed a special atmosphere in the school with our World Culture Day. This has been in the planning for some time, and we were all delighted to get it off the ground today, with the children contributing so much by wearing a wide range of wonderful outfits and costumes that meant something special to them. Many thanks to all of you for supporting them in this and making the day such a colourful and exciting one.
We had got things off to an early start with our Nigeria Day assembly on Wednesday, and today we have enjoyed exploring and learning about cultures from around the globe, with plenty of opportunities for active children engagement and lots of fun as well. With open corridors to follow, we can reflect on a really exciting Friday in school. Of course, this all forms part of our wish to make all children and parents feel welcome, and for school to be a place where we can celebrate each other's heritage and uniqueness.
One of the key three prongs of the School Promise is being a ‘good citizen’, and I believe developing a healthy interest and joy in sharing cultures is such an important part of that. Another part of course is the fund raising that we do for a range of charities throughout the year. We raised lots of money in our Macmillan coffee morning a week ago, so many thanks for help with that. At the moment we are asking parents to donate any spare provisions that you might have for our Rugby Foodbank Harvest Collection. This collection is still very much open and if you'd like to send in any tins or packets of food that you could spare before our harvest services next week, these would be very gratefully received. I know that the volunteers who run the foodbank, not to mention the many people who rely on their services, will be really grateful for anything that you might be able to spare.
I do hope to see many of you coming along to those events, and also to the first round of parent meetings that begin next week. These will give you a chance to meet up with your child's form teacher and find out how they are settling into their new class and their new year in school. I hope you find these meetings helpful and informative.
Have a great weekend everyone.
