Snapchat is an incredibly popular messaging app, often even favoured over WhatsApp by the current teen generation. It's perfectly free and a great way for older children to stay in touch with friends, share pictures and videos with them, as well as access a huge host of very fun photo filters. Similarly to most social media however it doesn't come without its potential pitfalls, including sharing your location, unwanted 'friend' requests from strangers and accessing inappropriate content. Luckily it does also have some pretty great safety features, so with a some careful set up and well prepared users, can be safely enjoyed by pupils as they move into Year 7 and beyond.
