Pastoral Message From Mr Webb

Dear Parents

It's very easy in the normal rush and flow of modern life to forget to reflect on what we're doing and to take things that become almost every day for granted.  With lockdown I've found myself with more time to become perhaps more appreciative of work, shopping trips, days out at local attractions, holidays, sporting or musical events...

I think children are no different to this as they get swept along in a regular whirlwind of school, co-curricular options, out of school clubs, seeing family, parties, playdates...

It's been interesting the extent to which many of them have mentioned to school staff in recent teams meetings the things that they miss, that they are most looking forwards to returning to when allowed again.  I guess these are the very things that perhaps they, just like us, have subconsciously long taken for granted.

As we all look to return, over time, to the things that we love I think we have a one off, genuine opportunity to talk openly to the children about appreciating things that we now know can be taken away in a moment in ways that none of us would ever have expected.  Perhaps their generation, more than the ones before them, will have learned not to take things for granted.

With all best wishes for a happy weekend.

CLANG Of The Week

Over the last couple of weeks it has been lovely to see more children in school and to see how well the children have adapted to the changes put in place.

Here’s my CLANG of the week...

CONNECT
I’ve realised how important it is to actually see people and the children for real, not just through a screen

LEARN
I’ve learnt quite a bit about Shakespeare whilst planning for Year 6 this week

Be ACTIVE
I’ve loved watching Year 6 play their new game: ‘Hoop Tag’ – facilitated and coached by Mrs Dowling;

Take NOTICE
After the welcome rain we have had, all the spring flowers have bloomed even more;

GIVE
I’ve given my dog more walks than ever this week as we have to leave the house every time we have a house viewing; he’s shattered!

Have a good week, stay safe and healthy!
