Headmaster's Message

Dear Parents

The LAMDA showcase events this week have been a real joy. During the first part of the year, all of the children from Year 3 to 6 develop a wide range of speech and drama skills in their timetabled lesson with Miss Thompson and many of them go on to take the LAMDA exam at the end of February. Performing in public is great preparation for this, as well as making for a most enjoyable hour’s entertainment in its own right. I was delighted with the parent attendance as this provided an excellent audience for the children. Very well done all of the children who took part. I was genuinely impressed with the individuality of the presentations and the confidence the children showed as they delivered them.

During the week commencing Monday 27 January we will be welcoming a film crew to the school from Affixius Films. They will be working with us for three or four days putting together a short video of school life that will then be put up on our website. This will involve a number of children at different times during the week as we want them to reflect the wide range of activities that go on here. It takes some time to put these things together but my intention is to show the finished product to the children in assembly next term and parents will have a chance to see it online and also at the Welcome Evening in June.

Next week also looks like a busy one with two educational trips going out, six teams playing sport fixtures, an all day hockey tournament at Rugby School, finished off with an open day for prospective parents and open corridors on Friday. In the meantime, I hope you all enjoy your weekends with your children.
