Dear Parents

This week’s edition of the Courier will be pinging into your in boxes hopefully as you are enjoying some sunny/cloudy/hopefully-not-rainy weather at, or shortly after, the school summer fete. Many thanks to everyone who has been involved in putting this year’s fete together, it is always a considerable source of enjoyment for the children and feels like a real mile post in the passage of the summer term. Many families have also made generous contributions to the tombola and the raffle, which were very well stocked this year. Many thanks to them and of course to all of you who have dipped into your pockets to allow your children to take part. Your support is much appreciated.

With plenty of cricket and rounders fixtures going on this week and preparations for sports days also in full swing, we feel we are fully in the midst of the school summer term.

I would also make a plug for the excellent digital safeguarding presentation that we ran on Monday evening. Those who attended all agreed it was a really useful and hands on session with plenty of actionable advice. As parents of young children who will soon grow into young adults, this is vital knowledge for you to have. For those who didn't attend, a Vimeo of the evening has been sent out. Please do take the time to watch it.

Another highlight of the week gone by was the Year 6 celebration breakfast on Wednesday morning. This is a relatively new innovation and is a chance to celebrate the achievements of the Year 6 children, particularly after all their exam endeavours. There was a delicious selection of croissants, cereal, pastries and fruit kebabs for the children to enjoy. To add to the occasion, they were all wearing their newly presented leavers’ hoodies and looked very smart.

Next week they will be away at their residential trip in south Devon and I am pleased that I will be able to accompany them for the second part of the week. This will conclude the residential trips for this school year and it is so exciting to have these back on the calendar again. Plans for next year’s trips are already well underway.

I hope you all enjoy a restful weekend.
