Eid Mubarak!

A big thank you to Sophia and Anaya who were keen to share their personal experiences of the important celebration of Eid-al-Fitr this week.

We heard how their families celebrate by wearing new clothes, eating special food and meeting with family and friends to pray and mark the end of the Muslim month of Ramadan. 1SS completed tasks to help broaden their learning and understanding through making crescent moons, writing sentences, completing wordsearches and making cards.

Class 1LS Forest School

We were very lucky to have the glorious weather for our Forest School session again this week. A few tools were introduced to the children this week, as it was their final session and a few of them had a go at making their own jewellery. They had the opportunity to saw a biscuit section off of a log, to then create a hole in it and thread some string. They were introduced to a pruning saw and palm drills and they did a fantastic job.

As well as this, we were very busy building dens, painting logs with wood and looking at the new plants and bugs that have emerged now that Spring has fully sprung.

Attached are some photos from the last two sessions. It was a pleasure to enjoy the past six weeks with 1LS and watch their enthusiasm and love of nature grow.

(We will have a few more sessions as part of their Outdoor Learning after half term.)

Year 1 Mini Brass Taster

Year 1 enjoyed a Mini Brass taster session this morning. It’s always a popular activity and the children had great fun finding out about brass instruments and playing the hose-a-phones!

Mrs Fisher has been running Mini Brass Club for Year 2s for a few years now and it is a great introduction to future musical opportunities in the school. Many of our talented brass players first picked up their instruments in Mini Brass.

To sign your child up for Mini Brass in September, please complete the form below:

Class 1LS English

As part of our learning in English, we have been using the series of Supertato texts. The children have thoroughly enjoyed reading all the different stories about Supertato and his arch nemesis, Evil Pea!

The children will be writing about their own veggie superheroes, so at the beginning of the week, they made them! There were Supercarrots, Superspuds and even a Superpineapple!

They had a great time and making the superheroes and writing amazing descriptions.

Well done!

Whitemoor Lakes Residential

Year 3 and 4 had a wonderful break away at Whitemoor Lakes on Tuesday and Wednesday. We were welcomed by a very friendly staff team who took the children on a tour of the site and showed them their bedrooms. Activities included climbing and archery along with various team building challenges.

The fabulous food kept everyone energised and much fun and laughter was had along the way; especially around the campfire - just ask the children about the moon story! Many of the children wanted to stay longer and move in. It’s clear to see, the whole experience was a fantastic success!

A vimeo of the photos will be sent next week.

Tae Kwon Do Grading Success

At the end of last term some of the Tae Kwon Do students from Thursday's co-curricular club, took their promotion grading.  All students either achieved a yellow stripe or yellow belt (9th kup).  Yellow signifies the sun and the beginning of their martial arts journey!

Mr Perks is very proud of all his students and looks forward to their very promising Tae Kwon Do journey in the future.
