Headmaster's Message

Dear Parents

What a contrast in weather conditions we have experienced during the week! At least the sun has shone for most of it and although much colder in the last few days, it is still a spring-like view I enjoy from my office window.

One special occasion this week was the past pupils matches between our current Year 6 children and last year’s leavers. This was played in great spirit and with no little skill, both in the boys and girls matches. It was lovely to see all of our former pupils looking so fit, healthy and excited to be back in once familiar surroundings.

Another highlight has been the curriculum workshops that have been run by the teachers for parents and children over the last week or so. We have focused on the theme of growth mindset and I know that many of you have found it very helpful to share the language and ideas that the children have been learning about in school. Many thanks and well done to all the teachers who delivered on these occasions, it is not an easy thing to do.

We look forward next week to the end of term events of the Spring Concert and Easter Service. As always, plenty of preparation has been going on here in school and we are looking forward to inviting parents in to share these moments with their children. In the most recently updated government guidance, there are few if any COVID restrictions now on meetings, but I would emphasise that any visiting adults who would prefer to wear masks are entirely welcome to do so. We have managed numbers in the hall to prevent overcrowding and there will be plenty of ventilation as well.

Best wishes

Uniform News

We are making some changes to the school uniform that will come into play from the beginning of next term.

We are introducing a new plaid style skirt and pinafore, that will brighten up the girls’ uniform and goes really well with the rest of the current outfit. There has also been a slight redesign of the school jumper, with the new version having a softer material that holds its shape well in a smart, deeper shade of green.

We are adopting a softly-softly approach to this and there is no necessity to purchase the new uniform before old clothes have worn out, but we hope you will have moved over to the new items by the end of Lent Term 2023.

Please also note an update on sports kit, which you will find at the end of this message.

Please read on for further information.

Pinafores for Reception to Y4
Girls in these year groups wear a pinafore style dress. This will be available to purchase in the new plaid design from the beginning of June onwards, to be worn when we return to winter uniform in November 2022.

Skirts for Y5 and Y6
When children move to Year 5 they change over to the skirt, and again this will be available in the new material. Michaelmas Term will be the ideal time for the current Year 4 children to buy the new skirt as this is when they would normally move from the pinafore to the skirt anyway. We would encourage those in Year 6 to do so as well.

Jumpers
These will be available for all children to purchase from May onwards and can be worn with the summer and winter uniform. It will replace the current jumper and cardigan options. We are very happy for the children with cardigans to continue to wear them until the time comes to renew.

Polo Top and Games Tops
The new school polo tops and games tops have been in place since June 2021. These are worn for school sports fixtures when it is important that we look the same and represent the school with pride. All children in Upper School should have these two items of kit for the beginning of the Michaelmas Term 2022.
