U9 Hockey - Crescent Crack It At Kingsley

After a fun but long, journey to Warwick, Crescent U9 Girls quickly warmed up and collected themselves together for the start of the game.

Kingsley won the first push back and Crescent got themselves ready and in to position.  Roisin was quick off the whistle and soon closed down the Kingsley pass, taking control of the ball with Sofie moving up the wing for her to pass to.

Crescent continued to dominate the first half of the match with Roisin crossing the ball into Maggie who was ready in the D to score the first goal.

In the second half Crescent went out strong from their push back with Grace holding position up front, Sofie quickly pushing forward to receive the pass, before hitting back into Grace who had moved closer to the D. Grace worked her way past the Kingsley defence to pass to Roisin who was ready to strike to score goal 2.

Further attempts on goal came from Leela, Shayla, Grace, Maisie and Sofie who narrowly hit the ball wide. Alice, Hattie and Emily were able to push forward and blocked any attempt of Kingsley getting into their attacking D with solid tackles.

Final score 2-0 Crescent

U10 And U11 Girl's Hockey v Kingsley

The U10A and U11A Girls hockey teams braved the cold winds to take on Kingsley School at Rugby College on Wednesday.

U11A Report

The U11's got off to a fantastic start closing the ball down and gaining possession quickly from a Kingsley push back to make a fantastic attacking drive towards the D which was soon converted in to our first goal. Great teamwork between Katherine, Eva, Sophia, Rosina and Stephanie saw Crescent dominate the ball with Chloe and Charlotte being able to push forward in defence and press the ball to ensure it stayed in the Crescent half.

The half time score was 4-1. The second half was no different with Crescent using the width to make use of space down the wing for some cracking crosses into the D for Rosina on Stephanie to capitalise on. Sophie did a cracking job in goal, kicking away and clearing any shots that did make it in to the D in the second half. Final score was 8-1 with goals from Stephanie, Rosina, Katherine and Eva.

Player Of The Match was awarded by Kingsley to Eva and Most Determined Player to Charlotte, whose composure and timing in defence was faultless.

A great game with fantastic teamwork and sporting values showed by all.

U10A Report

The girls made an impressive start, winning the ball quickly and Ellie glided into the D unchallenged, clinically slotting the ball away within a minute of the starting whistle. Another goal followed rapidly afterwards. The midfield of Bella, Ellie, Esme and Mya proved tough for Kingsley to break through, and their speed of attack and tenacity led to more goals from Crescent before half time. Grace M sneaking in front of the keeper to connect with a cross from Ellie being one of the many highlights. The defensive work of Zara and Chloe had more work to do in the second half, both making some great tackles and clearing the ball well. It was clear that the girls had listened during the team talk and were linking up brilliantly, with confident passes and more accurate shots on target. A special mention must go to Ava who donned the goalie kit and never looked like it was her first match in goal, confidently attacking any ball that came her way. Ellie scored 8 goals, Grace M, 2 and Esme 1.

Final result was 11-1. Bella was awarded Player Of The Match by the opposition. A brilliant team effort and a very impressive score line.

Well done all.

Football Round Up

Wednesday 1 December 2021:
Crescent U10s 5 - 0 Crackley U10s
U10A Football team braved the cold wind and rain at Crackley Hall on for a 5-0 victory.

All of the team played fantastically getting fully involved, pressing the ball and attacking well. Great teamwork, fancy footwork, accurate passing, meeting the ball and reading the game well.  Great effort by all involved.

Player of Match awarded to Sam M by Crackley Hall.

Wednesday 8 December 2021:
Crescent U10s  2  -  4  Crackley U10s
Crescent U10s were very unlucky to come out on the wrong side of an end-to-end, exciting game that was far closer than the score line suggests. Crackley took the lead early through a well worked corner, but Crescent hit back on the attack immediately, Grace coming very close a couple of times before Fin found the net with an excellent finish. Crackley scored again just before the break, leaving it 2-1 at the change of ends. Once again Crescent fought hard for the equaliser, this time Sam finishing off a fantastic solo effort. Crackley made it 3-2 shortly after with a good team goal, and this time Crescent couldn’t find a goal in reply, despite hitting the side netting twice. In the dying seconds Crescent were caught out at the back trying to push forwards, Crackley netting again to leave it 4 – 2 to the away side.

Man of the match went to Charlie Millward for a fantastic display in goal.

Crescent U11s  0  -  2   Crackley U11s
Crescent were soundly beaten by a strong Crackley side this week and came out determined to make amends in the home leg. They certainly started the stronger side, completely dominating the first half, but unfortunately just unable to find the back of the net, both Aryan and Kai coming extremely close. Crackley had a reshuffle at half-time and were able to bag a goal against the run of play, somehow finding a way through the rock-solid Crescent defence. Crescent then missed several key chances for an equaliser, including a strong penalty shout, before Crackley sealed victory with the final kick of the game, a great save from Ro in goal unluckily falling straight to the Crackley striker.

Man of the match goes to James Ashton for a superb defensive display at the back.
