Class 1S The Many Faces Of Picasso

Continuing to develop our drawing skills in Art this week, Class 1S have been learning about Picasso and his unique way of creating portraits. I think you will agree that the children planned and created a fantastic colourful display of their work!

Class 1S What Makes A Good Friend?

As part of our Relationships JIGSAW piece this half term, we have been discussing what makes a good friend. We chose which attributes were important to us in a friendship and then created colourful jigsaw characters to describe why we feel we are a good friend to others.

Class 3Y Record Breakers

After studying world records, Class 3Y decided on some of their own records to break. We took to the field and attempted records such as; most skips in 1 minute, number of push ups in 30 seconds and most high catches in 1 minute. They then wrote recounts of their record breaking experience.

As you can see from the photographs, much fun was had by all.

Class 4M Thinking Skills

As part of our non-verbal reasoning, we have to work out the rotation or compilation of 3D shapes, this is a difficult spatial concept; so, to aid their learning the children used cubes, so they could create the shape to help them workout the answers rather than just visualising. It was definitely worthwhile.

Class 4M WW2 Studies

The children have really engaged with our history topic for this term, WW2. We've talked about evacuation and the experiences of children during this time. It might be interesting for them to watch 'Goodnight Mister Tom.'

Unfortunately we don't have time in lessons to watch this, but it is currently available on Amazon Prime should you wish to watch it as a family.

Class 4M Share Family War Stories

The children have been enjoying sharing their families' stories of WW2. Charlie brought in a very precious family doll which had been rescued from a tank in WW2 that had been blown up. The doll was a gift for Charlie's Grandma from her uncle, as driver of the tank he managed to escape but he returned to tank to rescue the gift he had brought but left behind!

Harry also told the class about his Great Grandfathers who had served in the Army and RAF, sharing photos of their medical papers and uniform. Family conversations such as these are so important for all involved and really bring history to life for the children.

Class 6W Wacky Music Is Back

Limited numbers hasn’t dampened the enthusiasm and several Year 6 pupils have joined in with the unusual challenge of ‘Bells & Boomwackers’.

It certainly isn’t as easy as it looks but already shows great promise!
