Inter-House Geography

During the Lent Term, all of the children in Year 6 have been learning about the major cities, rivers, seas and mountains of the UK and Europe. With regular check-up tests along the way, the children have built up a bank of general knowledge that will hopefully stand them in good stead as they move on to their next schools.

Today was the last quiz and the results decided who will go through to represent their houses in the final. The final will be an Inter-House event on Tuesday 27 April with the upper school classes watching on Teams. Well done to everyone for having a go and good luck in the finals.

Fabulous Easter Bonnet Parade

Crescent School assembled out on the playground first thing on Monday morning for a delightful Easter Bonnet Parade. The children's bright and colourful bonnets were of all shapes and sizes but they were accompanied by plenty of proud smiles on the slightly breezy parade.

What a fun, creative competition organised by the Friends of Crescent that made for such a lovely start to the day. It was clear that a lot of time and effort had gone into making all the beautiful bonnets.

It was very difficult to choose the winners as they were all so good, however congratulations go to the class winners Nellie, Eve, Taran, Harry, Esme, Sophia and Shana.

What with the daffodils all out, the clocks sprung forward and now our Easter Bonnet Parade it really does feel like Spring is here!

A huge well done everyone. Make sure you enjoy the photos in the gallery!

Calling All Musicians! Reminder

After the huge success of the Foundation-wide performance of The Climb last summer, Mr Cowlishaw is producing another recording.

Entitled You Will Be Found this song has an inspiring message for the present times and will provide a welcome opportunity for singing and playing together. It is open to anyone from the school who wishes to take part, and anyone submitting a recording will earn House Points for their House.

All the details have been uploaded to SeeSaw under Music. There are video rehearsals for singing and you can download your singing or instrumental part from this site too. Mr Cowlishaw will also be recording a video for the singers to perform with to make their recording easier to manage.

All recordings need to be with me by Monday 5 April 2021.

Any queries do contact me.

Co-Curricular Clubs Trinity Term Reminder

Co-curricular will continue in the same format next half-term, we will keep reviewing them in line with government guidelines. An email has been sent out with sign up details for the first half of Trinity Term, it would be great to see every child involved in at least one activity.

In the brief time we have been in school we have run a successful programme of activities through our co-curricular programme. A big thank you to the staff who run these activities and a thank you to the children who show dedication and interest in things outside the classroom. It is great to see their enthusiasm and enjoyment.

Easter Reads For Year 5 And 6 Reminder

Year 5 and 6 have both received a class reader to enjoy over the Easter holidays, either Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo or 18th Emergency by Betsy Byars.  If they have already read this book then please encourage them to read another book by the same author.

I am happy for pupils to share the book with you, listen to it or read it themselves. They will all need to have completed reading their book by the start of the Trinity term so that we can work from it together.
