Reception French

Now that they can name the characters in La chasse à l’ours, the children watched Madame Tatton read the first few pages in the book, they stopped at the long wavy grass, in French we say 'une prairie'. The children then made their own 'prairie' and used their puppets form the previous week to re-enact the page from Michael Rosen’s book.

Reception – Home Learning

During the last couple of weeks, Reception have been thinking about winter and learning about animals that hibernate. We created some marvellous models and pictures of some of the animals that sleep to survive the cold weather. Can you guess what they are?

Class 1S St Kevin

Class 1S have continued to think about the story of St Kevin, following Mr Thackway’s assembly last week. We listened to the story of him again and how he chose to do the right thing so that the black bird could continue building her nest and hatching her babies.

Their task this week was to recreate the picture of St Kevin using toys, Lego, playdough, cardboard tubes, figures or even themselves. The children thought about the small narrow den and made space for Kevin's arms to poke through and the bird and it's nest in one hand.

Mr Thackway and I really enjoyed seeing what was created!

Class 4M Have Fun With Foul Food!

Inspired by Mrs Trafe's disgusting meals in 'Billionaire Boy', 4M have created their own revolting menus. They were truly stomach-churning with delights such as 'Bellybutton Fluff on Toast', 'Sloppy Witch's Soup with Wart Croutons', and 'Fish Gut Pie with Mashed Manure.'

Have a look at some of them here.

Well done, 4M!

Class 6W Are Bakers

One of the many things that we talk about over our lunch together in Class 6W is baking, many of us are keen bakers, the class even bought me a great apron for Christmas.

Many of us find baking is a great way to relax and practise mindfulness, so I suggested that the class could share something they cooked independently this week if they wished.

I have been so very impressed with the variety and quality of their cooking, there have been cakes (even one with a model of me on!), chicken dishes, pasta dishes, breakfasts and many more.

These are great life skills for the children, I know I always loved cooking with my children and they are great at cooking for themselves, now they are grown up.
