The Courier

Many of our Year 6 have already sat either the 11+ or other independent school examinations and now the majority are off (virtually) to Princethorpe College tomorrow. Having talked to them, I know they feel prepared and ready to do their best in the Foundation's senior school entrance examination. We wish them good luck, we are all very proud of our pupils' hard work and determination to do their best and of how they have supported each other as they have worked their way through the entrance examination season, made especially unique by doing exams online.

We have our fingers crossed for you all! 

We are so lucky that we can support reading whilst the children are learning from home. Each week the staff in Years 3-6 will monitor who is reading, so we can praise and encourage the children in their reading journey. If you need to check if a book is on the accelerated reading system then please use this link, it will also let you search for books at a certain book level.

As many of you will already know, I love books, I love reading and I love families and children to also find the joy in books too.

The other one that has come to my attention is the virtual school library. Every week a popular children's author or illustrator will provide you with free books, exclusive videos and their top three recommended reads.

Please take the time to lose yourself in a book, please send me pictures of you enjoying a book.

Parents, please ensure pupils participating in Seesaw PE lessons are in bare feet or wearing trainers.  Socks and tights are not suitable as they may cause pupils to slip and hurt themselves.  

As you can see from the image it is important to do some form of physical exercise every day.  If you are looking for some additional activities to keep yourselves and your family fit and healthy over this lockdown period then here are some links to some fabulous resources and activities that you can get involved with.

I just wanted to flag up a rather marvellous Maths game on BBC Teach. It is totally free and aimed at KS2 - Year 3 to Year 6. BBC Teach has all sorts of games and clips which I fully endorse for Maths and many other subjects if your child fancies a little extra!

Assemblies play an important part in school life. They help us to come together as a community and share important messages and celebrate good news. They are also an engaging way to discuss moral and topical issues and promote the ethos of the school promise.

During the lockdown we will publish links to the school assemblies, for you to view at home.

I set a bird drawing competition last week on Seesaw.  There will be a prize for the best picture in Pre-Prep and Upper School.
