Pastoral Message From Mr Webb

I can hardly believe we are at the end of week 1 already!  This time last week I mentioned to you all how I believed that we could pull together as a special Crescent community through this.  I have to say that I and other staff have been wonderfully overwhelmed by the messages of support, the details of what the children have been doing and the ingenious ways of motivating one another.

I have seen children demonstrating their full range of learning skills - not just on paper but also outdoors, physically and creatively.

The stories of Crescent children going above and beyond to be good friends and citizens have strengthened us all. I know many of them have found alternative ways of communicating which is so important to us all as humans.

We challenged them to make us proud.  Achieved!

Of course, formal learning will not be set over the next three weeks of the Easter holidays but staff remain accessible to you.  Please do continue to communicate with us what has been happening in your families - children and parents keep letting us know your worries and/or your joys.  We will continue to circulate Courier updates.

Hopefully we will be starting to see some positive glimmers of international news by the end of the break.  Keep safe and I wish all of our families healthy days ahead.

CLANG Of The Week

Every week I shall be sharing how I have been aware of my own wellbeing in this weird, new reality. I shall also be giving you some ideas of how you could take some time reflecting on how you too can follow the Five Ways To Wellbeing that we identified in our recent Wellbeing Day.

This week my top five ways to wellbeing have been:

  • CONNECT – I’ve set up Zoom so I can chat with my family, my friends and Class 3S for our PSHE lesson!
  • LEARN – I’ve learned what social distancing means and how to wash my hands to many different songs;
  • Be ACTIVE – I’ve cycled my usual 7km bike route each day this week but ready for something different;
  • Take NOTICE – I drove through the countryside with the roof down in the sunshine and noticed the huge number of lambs and was swooped over by a snowy owl!!
  • GIVE – I gave Miss Wren some photos to take with her to Cardiff that she was thrilled with.

So... can you identify your CLANG of the week? Some ideas for next week....

  • CONNECT – write a letter or video call your grandparents or a relative
  • LEARN – how to tie your shoelaces and/or tie for when we return to school
  • Be ACTIVE – commit to join in with Joe Wick’s PE lesson at 9am everyday online
  • Take NOTICE of all the spring changes like Mr Thackway mentioned in his assembly
  • GIVE – time to playing board games with your family and reading a good book
